Local School Council Citywide Training - 2007

Please call Ms. Betty Willis at 773-553-1400 to reserve your seat, as we have limited in the number of participants to fifty (50) for the English sessions and twenty-five (25) participants for the Spanish sessions.

 

LSC TRAINING

Incoming LSC members must complete an 18 hour training program within six months of taking office. The Board will be in charge of this training, and if an LSC member fails to complete the program within the six month period allowed, the Board will declare his/her seat vacant. The LSC will then appoint a qualified person who meets the eligibility requirements to fill the unexpired term.

There are six mandatory lessons (12 hours) that LSC members have to take. The additional 3 lessons can come from a variety of topics approved by the Board. The six mandatory lessons are:

  1. “Roles And Responsibilities As Policy Makers”
  2. “Effective Local School Councils”
  3. “School Improvement Planning for Advancing Academic Achievement”
  4. “Budget”
  5. “Principal Performance Evaluation”
  6. “Principal Retention And Principal Selection”
