The Risk Management Department is dedicated to protecting
the assets of the Chicago Board of Education through the analysis of risk
exposures. We maintain insurance coverage's to meet the needs and analyze
out ability to retain losses. Loss control plans are developed and implemented
to minimize potential losses and insure the safety of persons and property.
Goals & Accomplishments
- Maintain the Owner Controlled Insurance Plan for the Capital Improvement
Program. The Board provides the insurance for all contractors while
working at a CPS location. By managing these insurance dollars, the
Board realizes millions of dollars in surveys each year. The program
demands good safety practices at the job sites and realizes better claim
control.
- Implement a school site safety inspection program to minimize potential
hazards in our schools.
- Develop a Disaster Plan in the event of a catastrophic event at a
school.
- Promote CPR and First Aid training for staff.
- Implement a system wide fire extinguisher maintenance program.
- Partner with the Department of Operations to facilitate removal of
any hazardous chemicals form schools.
- Maintain the Bloodborne Pathogen program in conjunction with the Bureau
of Employee Health Services.
