Futures Exchange: Through the CPS Futures Exchange Program, the Partnership
Group facilitates donations of time, talent, and material resources given
by companies, organizations, or individuals to CPS. The aim is for every
one of our 600 schools to develop a partnership with a business or organization.
Visit the Futures
Exchange website for more information.
Free Things: Often companies and individuals give CPS material
goods such as furniture, bookcases, office supplies, musical instruments
and new computers. We post these items on the "Free Things"
page so schools can see what is available. Principals and staff may then
request items from the list. Donations are tax deductible. For more information
and/or to view the list, visit the
Free Things page.
Volunteers:
Volunteers are an important resource for Chicago Public Schools. Whether
you prefer a one day project or year-long tutoring, there are a variety
of opportunities available. For additional information and sign up forms,

Principal
for a Day (PFAD): PFAD is one of the ways External Resources and Partnerships
provides leadership, guidance and support to Chicago Public School units.
PFAD helps to facilitate partnerships between CPS schools and businesses,
non-profit organizations, associations and individuals which serve our
schools and their students and increase public awareness of the accomplishments
and challenges of Chicago's public schools. Visit the PFAD site at: http://www.pfad.cps.k12.il.us/
to learn more.
Teacher for a Day (TFAD): Teacher for a Day is a joint venture between the Chicago Teachers Union and the Chicago Public Schools and will take place on Tuesday, May 15, 2007. The purpose of Teacher for a Day is for business and community members to gain a better understanding of and develop a deeper appreciation of the work Chicago Public Schools' teachers provide each school day. This year it will be a pilot taking place in 24 select CPS schools. The day will consist of volunteers co-teaching a lesson prepared by the teacher, observing a class, assisting a class by working with groups of students, picking up students at the beginning of the day from the bus, working in the lunchroom and many other activities. Click here to sign up.
E2 College Fund: On March 14, 2003, the Chicago Public Schools
announced the creation of the Children First Fund E2 College Fund. This
Fund will provide college assistance to the more than 30 Chicago-area
children who lost a parent at the E2 Nightclub last month. Upon graduation
from high school, these students will receive a scholarship to attend
the college or vocational school of their choice. For more information
please visit the Children
First Fund page.
